Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at Age 60.

US entertainer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died aged 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, per media reports.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family shared in a announcement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on several popular shows, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • "House"

His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored countless students during his career and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A wonderful father and man," Kind wrote publicly.

Finn is remembered by his spouse Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
