British and French Jets Attack Underground Islamic State Weapons Store in Syria
In a coordinated military action, jets from the UK and France struck an below-ground site in Syria reportedly occupied by the Islamic State group.
Details of the Combined Operation
The mission occurred on Saturday night in a hilly terrain close to the historic city of the city of Palmyra.
Guided bombs were utilized to sever the underground passages leading to the site.
“Early reports suggest the target was engaged successfully,” announced a official communiqué.
Aircraft and Assets
Eurofighter Typhoon combat jets performed the attack, with the assistance of a Voyager refuelling tanker to extend their range.
Purpose of the Facility
The subterranean complex is thought to have been used primarily for the warehousing of explosives and armaments.
The military confirmed the vicinity was free from civilian presence at the time of the strike.

The UK's defence chief stated the government's commitment to “stand shoulder to shoulder with international partners” in order to prevent any resurgence” of the militant group.
