Ex- Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the investigating team.
