Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in the City of Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was approached by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The motive of the incident remains unclear and no one has been arrested have been made, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Authorities indicated that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a location near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site supervising the installation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unknown people, according to reports.
"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before escaping on foot," a police statement confirmed.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocked hair and clad in what resembled a guard's attire firing shots on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries across the street.
It was further revealed that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the incident.
