Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," the statement continued.

It said wreckage landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
