The Detailed Method
This approach functions best for small pots and species averse to overwatering, such as moth orchids. However, a great many of warmth-loving indoor plants dislike chilly conditions. A plant's root structures developed for warmth, and freezing water can damage or hurt them. Ambient temperature is a significant part in the technique's efficacy: in a heated environment, the ice will melt rapidly, giving scant advantage, whereas in a cool room it may remain too long, chilling the roots and slowing water uptake.
