The Latest Relaxed Game Mode Sparks Heated Debates Over Bots, Experience Points, and Wait Times

Recently, the game developers launched a fresh playlist titled Casual Breakthrough. In essence, this mode resembles the standard Breakthrough setup but features several key adjustments:

  • Each team has only eight real players, with the remaining filled by 32 bots.
  • Actions performed by human gamers award full XP, while AI activities offer lower rewards.
  • Only two maps can be played: Siege of Cairo and Empire State.
  • Elements like Player tags, achievements, and stat tracking are disabled.

In short, this mode delivers on its name: it's a casual version of Breakthrough. On the surface, you might think there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for players looking for different methods to have fun with the title. But, gaming history have taught us anything, it's that you can't please everyone. In other words, many Battlefield 6 fans are upset.

Community Responses: From Fury to Praise

"Gamers prefer real players. Avoid making the mistakes of your competitors," states one reply to the official announcement. "Absolutely shocking concept," comments a different user. Meanwhile, on the Battlefield subreddit, a player notes, "It's unclear where we are headed with this title," while someone else lists all the issues they consider to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, fix drone glitch, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We do not require this bot mode."

On the other hand, amid the criticism, some gamers explaining how much they're liking the recent addition. "It's very fun to warm up, human participants prevent it from being a complete grind but it's quite laid-back," reads a forum post. "The community fails to see that there are players who actually go outside and can't play this game all the time. Allow them to strike a balance," adds a different comment. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with busy schedules, this is perfect for me," and another applauds the mode for "avoiding intense competition."

Valid Criticisms and Community Feedback

All that said, players have constructive reasons to criticize Casual Breakthrough. Some users have pointed out that it will make wait times even longer for other modes because of the large amount of playlists in the game already. On a similar note, some areas already encounter mostly bots in the current modes. Additionally, it appears a little backwards that the mode won't start without a minimum number of real players, despite it primarily centers on fighting AI opponents.

Finally, a major complaints is that a previous feature was promised to offer full XP, even against bots, but that was removed when they attempted to eliminate bot farms from the mode. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the community meeting them in the middle, according to forum feedback. A different user describes this addition as the developers "dropping the ball significantly, I had great enjoyment in the first couple of days, why did they feel the need to adjust it?"

Looking Ahead: Will Changes Occur?

Should Battlefield Studios has proven anything to date with the latest installment, it is that they're listening and responding to feedback. Assignments that were overly hard were adjusted rapidly, just like the required Redsec challenges. It is likely that, should analytics shows this recent mode isn't performing to their expectations, they will not hesitate to change it again.
