The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the same level as sparing holiday birds, but the mayor of Miami-Dade had her own Donald Trump moment this week by formally pardoning the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She is worthy of this pardon. She has committed zero crimes,” Levine Cava said in a speech with clear references to the vast quantity of pardons issued since the beginning of a new presidential term.

“Except perhaps for eating 6 or 7 apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “Let this swine have a prosperous future without fear.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of consuming swine during the holidays, was established to emulate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The pig, donated by a first responder, was named for the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six-seven” – originating from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently made “six-seven” its 2025 word of the year.

A Future Secured

The pardoned swine is now set to enjoy its days at a rural sanctuary “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The pig pardon has become a cherished method to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, diverse, and grounded in customs that foster togetherness. Every time, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of croquettes and strong coffee as they toasted Six Seven’s big moment.
