The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with using the entire amount of frozen Russia's holdings to bolster Ukraine's defense operations, PM Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be executed in strong partnership with the US.

British penalties have blocked more than £25bn of Russian assets since the Russian government initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, up to this point, funds provided to the Ukrainian government using Russian holdings had solely been sourced from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were in agreement in their goal to drive progress toward utilizing the total worth of the seized Russian sovereign funds to conclude the conflict.

He added that additional sanctions over the next period would apply more pressure on the Russian government.

This statement follows EU representatives convened in Copenhagen last week to debate utilizing frozen Russian funds for a €140bn loan to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump encouraged international partners to seize or employ frozen Russia's holdings, as reported by reports.

The worth of immobilized Russian funds in the European Union is assessed to be nearly €211bn.

Russia carried out widespread aerial attacks across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in power cuts in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Several persons were fatally injured and at least 20 people were wounded in the strike, the Ukrainian government reported.

In a update on an online platform following the strike, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack focused on non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not just talk but decisive action - from the United States, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in supplying air defence systems and applying sanctions," he stated.

"Every sanction decision diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed reporters he would press Sir Keir to enter the PURL scheme, under which alliance members purchase military equipment from the US to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the UK's firm backing for Kyiv, he said it should send a clear signal that it would take part in the program, as well as enforce more restrictions on Moscow.
