Unbowed Wilfried Nancy does not fear being fired but supporters show wrath after derby defeat.
Wilfried Nancy declared he did not fear dismissal, maintaining, “We are extremely close to changing our fortunes,” even after moving dangerously close to being fired with a comprehensive setback against their arch-rivals.
A Second-Half Meltdown Leads to Derby Disaster
The Hoops were in front Rangers at the break but a second-half capitulation enabled the Gers to draw level on points with the reigning Scottish Premiership champions. Nancy, who was brought in from Columbus Crew, has now presided over six defeats in eight fixtures.
“There is unity at the club,” insisted the manager.

“It’s the results [that leads to pressure]. That is the reality for the moment. But when I say this is the reality, it doesn’t mean that I am a defeatist guy. Not at all. What I mean we are really close, really, really close to turn things around.”
Focus on the Details
The coach continues to cling to the fact Celtic play well for one half at a time. Indeed, were it not for missed chances they might have been greater than 1-0 up. “There were positives aside from the fact that we haven’t scored more goals,” he said. “I acknowledge that we lost, but I must remain objective.
“The level we had at certain moments was of top quality. That happened. I wouldn't say that if it was different. But that’s why, when it comes to wins, I said it's a repeating pattern. That’s why I believe we are really close to a shift in fortunes. Currently: details, details, details.”
“We produced a lot of encouraging signs that we did, like today again. But now it’s about sustaining it. My outlook would not be if I didn't believe it. That’s why I am a big believer the team can to turn things around.”
Opposition Reaction Stance
The victorious boss refused to contemplate a serious challenge even after what seemed like a landmark win. “We take it game by game, so we can really build up momentum,” he said. “The belief in the squad is immense.”
